What I do.
Have you ever looked around a space in your home and wondered: What's missing? Why don't I love it? What would pull this together? How can I make this more functional for me? How can I make it more organized? More polished?
Maybe you don't love your home, but you've told yourself it's not practical to have an organized and well-designed space when you have kids or grandkids running around. Maybe you think hiring an interior designer is an extravagance for the rich and famous. Maybe you just don't have time to think about it.
At Rachel Mospan Design I believe that you and your family can have an elevated space you love, no matter how busy you are, and no matter how messy your kids (or you!) are. I have a straightforward and guided process to develop a design plan that is not only beautiful, but also practical, attainable, and customized to you.
Your home is one of the most important investments that you will make. Your home provides more than just shelter - it's the backdrop for everything you and your family do in your every day lives. Well-designed space can have a powerful impact on your mindset, emotions, and productivity. Let's work together to make sure you're getting the most out of your home for you and your family.

In-home consultation.
All projects start with an in-home consultation, so we can get to know each other, I can see your space, and and develop concrete recommendations tailored to you and your family. There is some prep work to do – you’ll take a questionnaire and give me some information that I’ll use to prepare before we meet.
The consultation usually takes 1.5-2 hours. We will discuss your wish list and priorities for your home project, and what you'd like to accomplish. I'll review my contract so you understand how I work and what I can offer. We will walk through your space, explore ideas and recommendations, and talk about the changes you'd like to see in the design process.
Throughout our meeting, I'll answer any questions that I can for you. We will also firm up your target investment, estimated furnishings budget, and project timeline. At the end of the consultation you will have a clear and well-founded jumping off point to transform your home.
Custom design plan.
When completing a room design or renovation, there are a lot of decisions to make, and you have a significant investment on the line. It can be overwhelming to make sure that everything is cohesive, that you love it all, and that you avoid making costly mistakes. Through a Custom Design Plan, I support the layout, design, and selection-making for your room design or renovation, to take that burden off your shoulders and give you peace of mind that your investment is money well spent, and will give you a finished result that you will enjoy for years to come. Read below for more detail on the Custom Design Plan service.
Initial consultation
We will start with an in-home consultation where we will discuss your space, changes you'd like to make, what your vision is for your project. At this meeting we will discuss scope of work and sign the design agreement to move forward with developing your Custom Design Plan.
Design concept
If construction is needed, I will work with a contractor (your choice or one of my trusted resources) to support creating the construction plans and cost estimates. We will review inspiration, assess possibilities and narrow down to final layout and design direction.
Custom design plan
We’ll select all of the materials, fixtures, finishes needed for your space, and present cohesively allowing you to visualize the beautiful end result. Once we have fine-tuned and you approve the plan, I can support the execution of the plan through construction oversight or project management support.
